MEXICO CRUISES

VISA ISSUES-DECEMBER, 2006.

VISA-PASSPORT ISSUES CAN BE A MAJOR HASSLE FOR ANYONE SO I WANTED TO CLARIFY A PIECE OF INFORMATION THAT MAY HELP. THIS IS REGARDING CRUISE SHIPS TO MEXICO AND VISA ISSUE'S.

EFFECTIVE JANUARY 2007, U.S. CITIZENS (AND OTHER FORIENG NATIONALS) MUST HAVE A VALID PASSPORT TO ENTER MEXICO FROM THE UNITED STATES, THE PASSPORT MUST HAVE AT LEAST 6 MONTHS REMAINING ON IT PRIOR TO IT'S EXPIRATION. (THERE ARE EXCEPTIONS, BUT WHO CARES, GET A PASSPORT AND DODGE ALL THE BULLETS).

ENTERING MEXICO BY CRUISE SHIPS DO NOT REQUIRE AMERICANS OR ANY FORIENG NATIONAL (ANYONE) TO OBTAIN A MEXICAN TOURIST VISA.I VERIFIED THIS INFORMATION YESTERDAY 12/19/06 BY SPEAKING WITH THE MEXICAN CONSOLATE IN S.F. CALIFORNIA.

ON A CRUISE SHIP, AS YOU ARE IN MEXICO FOR LESS THAN 12 HOURS AT A PORT, THE TOURIST VISA DOES NOT APPLY TO MEXICAN LAW (72 HOUR VISITS OR LONGER REQUIRE A MEXICAN VISA)(WITH EXCEPTIONS TO BOARDER-CORRIDOR AREAS) .

A FORIENG NATIONAL, WHO BOARDS A CRUISE SHIP FROM A U.S. PORT GOING TO MEXICO MUST HAVE A U.S. MULTIPLE ENTRY VISA [b]OR YOU CAN'T GO. MAKE SURE YOUR VISA IS "MULTIPLE ENTRY" AND CODED "M". IF YOUR NOT SURE, CALL YOUR OWN EMBASSY OR CONSOLATE OR STATE DEPARTMENT AND ASK, BE SURE...

I ALSO CONCLUDED TELEPHONING A CONSOLATE'S OFFICE IS IMPOSSIBLE AS THEY NEVER PICK UP THE PHONE; SO FAX YOUR MESSAGE AND THEY WILL GET BACK TO YOU WITHIN A DAY OR TWO. I FAXED TWICE AND RECEIVED A RETURN CALL QUICKLY. THE S.F. MEXICAN CONSOLATES FAX IS : 415-495-3971; THEY HAVE NO WEBPAGE I COULD FIND, ONLY A REFERENCE NUMBER.

THE ABOVE INFORMATION IS DESIGNED TO ASSIST YOU. YOU MUST CONTACT A MEXICAN CONSOLATE OR YOUR OWN CONSOLATE AND VERIFY THE INFORMATION PRIOR TO TRAVEL AS THE LAWS CAN CHANGE AT ANY GIVEN TIME. IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY ALONE. I HOPED THIS HELPED.
